Law Enforcement Initiative
Leads: Kelly Pickard and Joe Montoni
Goals:

• Better prepare law enforcement to respond to anti-LGBT biase crime.
• Effectively communicate the actions of law enforcement out to the community.

• Increase the diversity of GLOV membership.
• Use innovative outreach campaigns to raise awareness of anti-LGBT violence..

• Address the violence against the LGBT community that has a possible bias component, even if not legally clear
• Effectively track cases in order to better understand crime, determine trends, and advocate for harsher sentences by looking at repeat offenses
• Determine best possible ways to have not just MPD presence on the problem, but also real MPD engagement.
• Politically engage with the Mayor's Office and City Council to advocate for hate crime priorities
• Respond to particular Anti-LGBT bias incidents to advocate for the community.

• Provide assistance to the LGBT community during the stressful yet crucial time of initial hate crime occurrence.
• Determine and provide effective resources for victims of hate crimes.
• Make assistance culturally sensitive and diverse.
